Snake Saturday March 11

July 12, 2005

An “Irish Birthday Celebration” is the theme of the 20th Annual Snake Saturday Parade & Festival, March 11 2006 in North Kansas City.

The popular festival features a state championship BBQ & fun filled family entertainment. The event is sponsored by the city of North Kansas City and the North Kansas City Hospital.

This year’s parade offers a $40,000 prize list for competing local charities, schools and organized groups. Entries close March 1.

The parade draws spectators area-wide, with many making it an annual family tradition to attend the “Snake Parade”.

Many business owners enter the parade competition in the commercial division to effectively advertise their companies and products.

The BBQ Competition starts off the weekend activities on Friday with a spectacular carnival attraction as a compliment.

This is the 18th year of the BBQ – which brings together top area teams. The 2003 American Royal Champions, The Grillers, will compete in this year’s contest.

The festival ground is a family delight, offering free pony rides, a petting zoo, magical shows, a car show and a large contingent of arts & crafters offering the parade crowd a full day of entertainment.

The Snake Saturday Parade will start at 11 a.m. at 14th & Swift, go north to Armour Road, turn right and go east to Howell and disband past 18th & Howell.

The reviewing stand dignitaries and judges are in front of City Hall. The BBQ location is on both sides of Howell between Armour Road south to 18th Street.
