July 2003

by Alicia Stephens

“The Future of KCI” is the title of the program for the Platte County Economic Development Council’s next luncheon. PCEDC Executive Director Pete Fullerton pointed out “KCI is a major economic engine for Platte County. Its economic health impacts the economic health of the entire region. This program will provide some insight to the status of KCI and the outlook for the future.”

A panel of industry representatives will provide the program. Scheduled for the panel are Russ Widmar - KC Aviation Department, Kevin Farley – Midwest Airlines, Mary Kay Gribbons – American Airlines and Jane McAtee – Southwest Airlines. A key discussion point for the panel will be, “What does Platte County and the Kansas City region need to do today in order for KCI to have a bright future?”

The luncheon will be held on Thursday, July 17th at 11:30 a.m. at the KCI Marriott Pavilion. Luncheon costs are $20 for PCEDC members and $25 for non-members. A luncheon reservation form can be found on the PCEDC website – www.plattecountyedc.com in the News & Events section, or by calling the PCEDC at 816/891-8770. Reservations must be received by Monday, July 14th.

The Platte County EDC is a not-for-profit organization funded by public and private partnership investors.
