Platte County EDC announces 2003 Board of Directors

Platte County EDC instates 2003 Board Members & Executive Committee

The Platte County Economic Development Council (PCEDC) put into office its executive committee and board of directors for 2003 at its annual meeting held February 21st.
The Platte County Commission announced its selection for the executive committee.
Kelley Martin will serve as 2003 Chair for PCEDC. Martinís firm, Martin Financial Group, is a family-owned financial services practice providing financial planning, securities sales and investment advisory services for 17 years. Martin is a member of the Kansas City Plan Commission. Martin is also President of the Clay/Platte Development Corporation and a member of the executive committee for Clay County Economic Development Council. Martin is involved in numerous civic and social organizations within the Northland community.

John Beavers of American Airlines will serve as Vice-chair. Beavers has worked for American Airlines/TWA for 26 years and is currently Manager of Aircraft Engineering.

Michel Defenbau will serve as the PCEDC Secretary/Treasurer for 2003. He currently is the President and CEO of Multivac, Inc., a company in the KCI corridor, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Multivac Sepp Haggenmueller of Wolfertschwenden, Germany. Multivacís horizontal, form fill and seal, tray sealing and chamber vacuum packaging machines are world renowned for their quality and performance. Multivac, Inc. employs 150 associates in North America and serves the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Rounding out the executive committee will be Edie Ballweg who just completed her term as 2002 Chair and will serve in an ex-officio capacity. The County Commission also has ex-officio representation on the executive committee.

Russ Widmar with the City of Kansas City Aviation Department

Chris Byrd, with Feldhausen & Byrd PC.

Yvonne Seckington, North Kansas City Hospital, membership elected term ending 2004
Andy Staley, Tremont Hen House, county appointed term ending 2004
John Thomas, Creative Management Consultants, county appointed term ending 2005
Gary Wages, Saint Luke's Northland Hospital, membership elected term ending 2004
Karen Wagoner, Platte City Area Chamber of Commerce/EDC, county appointed term ending 2005.
